Declared myself bankrupt May, 2004. Discharged October, 2004. Do I have to pay PPI refund to court after 11years ?

Hi, if the PPI was taken out before your bankruptcy in May 2004 then yes, it would go to the official receiver. You can contact the OR and ask if it is an asset that they will claim.

The PPI cheque is from one of my creditors in the bankruptcy. Does the refund go back to them or to the court. I was told that after 6 years everything was finished. It is ironic that after the stigma following bankruptcy it is still with you after 11 years and would appear you are never free of it despite now being 70, with basic pension and attendance allowance for ill health. Thank you for your prompt reply.

It's the same with an IVA - if the PPI was for a debt included then it will go back to the creditors.

Do speak to the OR as Viki advises. It may well be that they won't be interested and that you can keep it.

Fingers crossed!!
