Do you mean an Official Receiver? I have no idea how they obtain their positions. If I come across anything how they are appointed I will post.

Take care

All I have left is my sense of humour.

Hi there

An Administrator (and not the Official Receiver as someone else has mentioned) can be appointed three ways

by the court making an administration order (appointing someone as administrator)

by the holder of what is known as a 'qualifying floating charge' (essentially a creditor of the company)

by the company or its directors

Hope this helps, but just ask if there's anything you specifically want to know.
