I have been approached by a company that want to assist with my bankruptcy - obviously with a fee but they assure me they will help me all the way. Do you reccommend this

Hi Carl,
As Paul has said with some further information regarding your situation we can get a better idea of whether an assisted bankruptcy is required for your situation.
As Melanie points out Bankruptcy is an easy process depending on your situation.
Paul is an assisted bankruptcy specialist and im sure if you contact him via his website he will be happy to look at your scenario and tell you whether you need any assistance.
As Paul and Melanie have both said it would be interesting to see how this company got hold of you?

Hi Carl
Are you curently in an IVA? It is becomming the norm for people in an IVA to be targeted by bankruptcy companies offering 2 solutions.
Either you will be offered bankruptcy as an option - with a cost equal to between 3 and 5 IVA payments.
Alternatively if you own a property they might seek to remortgage the property and use the equity to seek an early settlement.
If you are in an IVA I would suggest you check out the sister site www.iva.co.uk where you can get further help and assistance .
There may be other solutions to the problem without going Br.

Hi Carl
Bankruptcy proceedings are relatively straightforward, you merely fill out the forms available on the Insolvency Service website, get your hands on £485 in cash to meet the Court costs, and ring up the Court for a date to attend for the bankruptcy hearing. All very simple, and many people follow the same route.
If you feel that you need some assistance with this process, there are many "bankruptcy assist" firms to choose from, but expect to pay between £500 and £1,500 for their charges, depending upon the complexity of your case. I have referred several clients of my own to such companies recently, when it was clear that these people would not cope terribly well with the Court application and appearance on their own.
