hi
i am going to court today at 1pm for my bankruptcy .I am sure i have listed all my debts,have all the relevant paperwork for them BUT now im worried about forgetting one of my debts! I am sure I havn't ,but if i have how do i deal with that? what happens if a debt that i havnt heard from for ages suddenly reappears?
I think I may just be finding things to worry about.. |

Hi Whatever - I am really pleased it all went well for you.
I am at court a week today and I have more butterflies than I know what to do with!
I am pondering over the reasons why I went into debt - I must have written it out ten times and as yet daren't put pen to paper.
I was going to put the form away and start again on it on Monday but things keep popping into my head - usually at two in the morning!
Any advice, thoughts from your experience (and anyone else's out there) would be great

Hi whatever!
Glad it all went well. I was the same but the relief after was so nice!! I would say go for a cashminder account too. I have one and my nearest branch is over 60 miles away which i can get to by train if I really need to but as the others have said, you can use the post office to pay stuff into.
This is now the fresh start you needed and it's great!! |

Well it was really good in court.All the staff inc.the judge were really friendly.After reading my brief description for my reasons for bankruptcy the judge even said he is happy im getting a fresh start.The whole process only took an 1 1/2 hours inc. waiting .The judge said from my disposable income he cannot see the OR making any payment orders.The OR is supposed to be calling my tomorrow but I have been told that sometimes its a few days later.It is all such a relief its over,I came home and fell asleep for what must have been the best sleep ive had in months!
I had never been to court before and I have to say to anyone that has this coming up it REALLY isnt that bad.
I'd like to thank everyone that has responded to my questions leading up to this and for the votes of support.This site has taught me a lot. |

Ah ok thanks,that saved me an embaressing trip into a nationwide.
I have found the court staff on the phone have been really nice and in fact one lady said she will even come and see me first to relieve my nerves.
I will post after and tell you if i still have all my nails intact. |

Good luck for today Whatever. I found it was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting.
Regarding a bank account - you can apply for a Co-op Cashminder account on the phone so it doesn't matter if you don't have a branch near you. You can pay in and withdraw money at a Post Office and the customer service on the phone is excellent. Nationwide will no longer offer a Flexaccount if you are bankrupt unfortunately.

I have never been to court in my life! I am 100% sure I have listed all debts anyway but suddenly woke up at 3am in a panic thinking that if some forgotten debt pops up in 3 months time what do i do.As for the account thanks I have heard co op are good but i have none near me so im going to give nationwide a go as I have heard they are willing to accept bankrupts too.

Don't worry about that.
All debts ( bar magistrate court fines & proper student loans) will be covered by your petition.
It is quite possible that you have forgotten something but just advise the OR if it comes to light.
Have you sorted out a bank account yet?
If not give the COOP a call this morning and ask for their CASHMINDER ACCOUNT. Best one available for people in Br !
If you have the facility copy your statement of affairs so that when you have a telephone interview with the OR you have a document infront of you for reference.
It is very easy to get worried by this tel call so you need to perpare - get a pad of paper & pen to take notes, a glass of water and if you don't remember the answer tell them that and ask for some tome to review it and get back to them.
Good luck - it is no where near as bad as you think it will be.
Also don't be surprised if you are in a bit of a daze in the afternoon - can't quite believe it has happened but not as bad as you thought.
