Some good advice regarding the vehicle.
To set your mind at ease no they will not visit your home.
Good Luck.

Posted - 21 April 2008 : 23:39:02 Hi Jayrob,
It is all down to negotiaion with the OR - the norm would be that if the car is essential then the question is - is the value appropraite - If not then the OR will offer the opportunity for the difference to be covered - on occasions payments for my clients have been spread over a number of months.
All the best Alan

Posted - 21 April 2008 : 22:02:03 ty for that. Rob has also put on the form that we are joint owners as I have recently paid £2200 in repairs for the car and pay towards the upkeep. Do you think this will make a difference. if not would I be able to purchase the extra £600 from the or. The £3100 was from parkers guide. If they do take it how much would rob get back to buy another 6 seater car? Also do they send people to your home? Cheers jayne |

Posted - 21 April 2008 : 21:47:06 Hi jayrob
the value of this is well above the allowed level of 2,000 - 2,500. However you may want to check the value on Parkers guide and print off what it says the value is for an average condition car & adjust the mileage for yours.
I too have 4 children and we are destined to always drive a van. You have to have 6 seats to go anywhere legally so there may be some leway here.
If the OR suggests that the value is higher than he would allow you may be able to negotiate "buying" the excess value back from any disposable income over a few months.
Good luck tomorrow
