I understand that bankruptcy is advertised in my local paper. Will my home address be mentioned in this? I do not own any property, but rent my home so it will not be seized but I have come out of an abusive relationship and I would not want my address to be availble to him?

Thank you to everyone! Sometimes the simple answers evade me!

Unfortunately, I do not think you would be able to avoid the bankruptcy order being announced in the London Gazette even if it is not announced in the local press. The London Gazette is easily searchable for bankruptcies going back over a hundred years and your address would be on it.

Hi Denise,

As Melanie has said explain this to the Judge and due to your circumstances as part of the Bankruptcy Order he will request that no advert be made, you can then discuss this at your interview also so that your privacy is upheld.

I hope this helps

Hi Denise,
I was in the same boat as you and the OR said I do NOT have to have my details in local press if it would cause a problem.

Hi Denise

You should make this point known to the District Judge hearing your case, and will need to provide evidence of your difficulties with your former partner to avoid the public advertisement.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

HI denise, i know that the online register does show addresses on there, if you have an adviser try asking them, they will know more than me obviously.

Good luck x
