Just reading an earlier post about selling a car and i have just remembered something that is now worrying me. I bought my wife a car 13 months ago and i can't remember why now but there was a good reason i registered it in my name. It didn't make any difference to me as although in my name i classed it as my wifes car. Anyway a few months ago i transferred it to my wife, it was a genuine gesture of giving her something that was hers as sometimes she feels a little trapped as everything we have is in my name. I hadn't even considered BR or IVA at that stage and there was nothing devious in it at all. I am now worried that it will look suspicious and that the OR will want to have my wifes one and only posession or just as bad give me a BRU /BRO. The car is worth £1k maximum. Should i be worried? Do i declare it as i haven't actually sold a car?

Hi Hammy,

Seeing how the car was paid for and the amount of both cars, as Melanie mentions I would not be concerned.

The figures concerned are sufficiently low to not cause an issue with the OR Hammy. I would imagine that this car is not worth a lot of money?

When did you purchase your car?

Where did the cash come from to pay for your wife’s car?

Yes i do but it is worth about £2k.

At this amount I wouldn’t worry have you a vehicle registered to you at the moment?
