Posted - 25 May 2008 : 17:27:14 A friend of mine has a "dead beat" husband who pays no maintenance towards the three kids. His excuse is that he has declared himself bankrupt. How can she find out if this is true?

CSA payments or maintenance are excluded debts from Bankruptcy this would include any back payments owed so as Melanie suggests your friend should contact the CSA immediately.

Posted - 25 May 2008 : 17:49:26 She can do a search on the Insolvency Register which is easily found on Google, but if he has been discharged from bankruptcy then the entry will be removed. Just because he is bankrupt, this does not mean that he should negate his duties as a father. I suggest she contacts the Child Support Agency.
