Posted - 28 May 2008 : 09:51:31 Hi,
I rang round a few credit card companies yesterday to see if I could get a set of April 2006 statements to prove a claim that 65K withdrawn from my house went to pay my creditors. Most of the companies refused to do this without putting an additional charge on the card. I said isnt that a bit pointless when I am bankcrupt but they stuck to their guns.
I felt like saying, go on then - let me owe you £10,002 rather then £10,000 but didnt as I wasnt sure it was a good idea to put charges onto the card before I spoke to the OR to see if this was OK.
Also, I was wondering if I need to do this. Is it my responsibility to prove that this transaction was as I stated, or the ORs responsibility to disprove it...
I have a bank statement showing money going to cards which were mine, but the bank statement on its own just shows payments to Natwest Visa etc....not enough to show it was my personal Visa account.
Regards

Posted - 28 May 2008 : 11:20:12 Hi Indy,
Given the small fees they will charge for duplicate statements, I really wouldn't be too concerned. To be honest, I'm quite surprised these companies are willing to add the fees to your balance! In any event, the OR is likely to get copies anyway.

Posted - 28 May 2008 : 11:01:36 Thanks Julian,
I wasnt sure if I should be racking up additional charges without clearing it with the OR.
The issue I have is these statements are in my interest not the ORs as they underpin my case for zero interest in my property.

Although the OR can get copy statements directly from your creditors, it is in your best interest to be seen to cooperate as much as possible. If the credit card companies just want to add to the debt they are going to write off, I say let them!
