Posted - 13 May 2008 : 10:35:33 Hi,
As soon as I went Bankrupt I photocopied the BR certificate that had my number on (enough to send out to all my creditors) and wrote a letter explaining I was now BR and if they wanted to contact me they would have to do it through my OR. I only heard from one creditor again (out of about 10 - roughly) which was soon told to go away

The official receiver has a duty to contact your creditors within a few weeks following your petition.
If you want to speed things along I would suggest you call each of them and let them know and give them your unique Br number.
You will be amazed that the response nyou get. Most will be extremely polite and thank you for calling.
One debt collection agency ( no names) will almost guaranteed tell you "you still owe them money and they will send someone rouind and collect the debt in person". This obviously doesn't happen but amazing the different level of training given in some companies.
