My wife gets about £110 a month in child benefit and tax credit. I am going BR but my wife is not. Will these benefits be taken into account on our I & E's? I am sure i read somewhere that benefits are not included as income.

Yes they will be, but the you will be made a full allowance against them as child benefit is meant to be spent on the children.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com

The tax bit i think is based upon the families earnings, i.e just mine as my wife doesn't earn. This is worth £10.50 a week. The rest is child benefit at about £70 every 4 weeks. Are either of these added to MY incomings?

Hi Hammy,

Is The claim for tax and working tax credits a joint claim?

If so you will need to enter these in the relevant section for benefits and then any amount you wife contributes towards the bills separately.

Kind Regards,
