Posted - 29 May 2008 : 19:02:33 Maybe I have come in a bit too late to be og help but good luck to you. As to what to call the judge probably 'Sir' was correct. I think 'My Lord' is in the High Court or Crown Court. As long as you did not call him 'Your Eminence', like the Verger called the Vicar in Dad's Army it was probably ok! |

Posted - 29 May 2008 : 14:11:19 Hi Julian As Iam now reading your post ,I have just come back from court, you could not have describe it better. Following the paper and fees bit there were 4 of us ,waiting for the judge out side. To my surprise he called all 4 of us at once. Politely greeting, asked us to take a place.Looked at us and said "i went through your petition and issues an order to declare you bankrupt".I could not believe my ears,No questions about gambling or what ever. The OR will contact us within a week.So iam officially bankrupt after 2 years of agony as to how to sort out my debt.Itis time for me to reflect deeply and look at and do things differently. thanks again Julian for your reassurance and factual advices. Just relax and you'll be fine. When I left the court following my BR, I wondered what all the fuss was about!

Posted - 28 May 2008 : 20:01:11 Hi,
I would second that. You build it up in your mind, but I was in front of the judge all of two minutes and he was really nice.
Dont know why, but I had visions of me being stood in a dock, but it was just a guy behind a desk in an office.
I didnt feel any sense of relief, shock or anything really. Bit empty is the best way I would describe it.

Posted - 28 May 2008 : 17:25:51 Hi abd,
"Sir" is probably the best place to start. You won't need any payslips or statements for the BR hearing .... that's for the OR.
Just remember to relax. You'll probably find tomorrow a real anticlimax. I would, however, suggest that as soon as you're done in the court, get to the pub for a drink or two!
Best of luck.
Regards.
