Posted - 01 June 2008 : 10:42:41 I am an indian citizen with permit to work in UK. i earn 30000 pounds but my debts are 25000 pounds. i have a loan of 20000 pounds, 2 credit cards to pay for 5000 pounds. now my wife is in US and we plan to settle in US. she is currently studying there and i had to support my parents in india and my wife education. i had to cut my spending and living expenses so badly that sometimes its ok not to eat in a day --thinking i am saving money but my payments to creditcards is ever increasing with interest and payment protection cover. all i can do is to pay minimum payments.
will bankruptcy be a solution for me. will it be a problem if i move to US or when i make the application. my wife is a physio--who can start on a salary of 70000 dollars but for her to get job takes atleast 6-9 months. please advise. finally she has debts on UK creditcards to the tune of 9000 pounds. please advise.

You will need to check with US immigration to see if BR has any negative impact on your visa application.
In respect of going BR in the UK, how long have you been in the UK?
