Anybody help with this bit of a dilemma:

person A is a recently discharged bankrupt

Person B (who knows person A) has been applying for multiple loans on the internet in Person A's name (presumably to make mischief)

what should Person A do? Just ignore it? Person A knows it is Person B doing this but has no concrete proof

it is very worrying

Hi Banana,

It would at least get logged and you'll be issued with a refernce number to advise the credit reference agencies with.

would the police take Person A seriously about this matter without definite proof?

Hi Banana and welcome to the forum.

This sounds like identity theft fraud, and Person A should report the matter to the police. It may all be harmless fun at the moment, but Person B's activity could have lasting repurcussions for Person A.

Hmmm....Me thinks B needs to get a life!
Might be worth contacting the credit ref agencies - just to report this activity, although it sounds like their mischief making is only generating an annoying phone call for you. You could always change your phone number!!!!

Hope they get bored of it very soon!!!

thanx everyone, no, Person B has not actually got any money, they are pretending to be Person A on the applications, so these loan companies are ringing Person A up about the loans and Person A has no idea what they are talking about! Obviously, Person A does not want credit, being a newly discharged bankrupt!

I think person B is just doing this to cause annoyance and be a nuisance! Person B has not been nice in the past about the bankruptcy, they do not approve!

Hi banana
Has person B just been applying or actually got their mits on money?
If it's just applications then the OR won't know unless you tell them.
You can contact the credit ref agencies and report it - I am not sure what they can do at the end of the day if no money has been obtained.
If there is money involved then it's a more serious fraud issue.
Hang on for another BR advisor to advise you further.
