Almost finished now but one last bit of advice needed please.

The question asks whether anybody else in the house contributes to the household. Well my wife receives approximately £110 a month in child benefit and tax credit, however from this she does not directly contribute to the household. The £110 goes on nappies / milk etc which i haven't included in my expenditure. Should i answer yes or no to this question? My worry is that it will appear we have surplus funds when in fact we don't. My current budget for food / cleaning / personal hygeine is £400 a month for myself, my wife and our 2 year old son. If i was to include what my wife earns and what she spends then it would increase my food etc budget to £500 a month. Would this be deemed to much?

Hi Hammy,

It's probably a tad on the high side, but as long as you can justify it (young children are hideously expensive) you should be fine!

Julian,

Thank you but will the OR consider £500 a month for food, nappies, milk, wipes, juice, cleaning products, personal hygeine as reasonable for a family of three???

Hi Hammy,

I would complete the SOA as if you pay for everything and get a contribution from your wife.
