Meet the OR next week and need some advice about cars.
My other half has registered as self employed and will need his car for business, it is valued on parkers as:
Private good: £2,190
Private poor: £1,605

My car is used to take my disabled son to school (need to fit wheelchair in boot!) The parkers valuation is:
Private good: £645
Private poor: £440 (needs new exhaust so I would guess it is in poor condition)

I am concerned that my husband who works freelance will not be allowed to keep his car. This will mean that he is unable to go to work or find more business.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Also we are considering moving to Europe in the summer. I think it will be easier for my husband to find work in Spain. Will the OR be able to prevent us from going abroad to look for work?
We intend to stay with friends whilst looking.

I am desperatley worried about this, Thanks for being my lifeline over the last few months!!!...........

Hi Stuffed,

I agree your cars are both below the threshold of £2500.

As Vicki mentions you will need to inform the OR of your plans to move, but your Bankruptcy will not stop you doing so.

Kind Regards,

Hi stuffed
I think you will find the OR won't be interested in either car. They are both low value and are both necessary for your husbands business and for your son.
The OR won't stop you going abroad - they may quizz you about how you are going to finance it - so be prepared with answers if/when the OR knows about it.
They will need you to keep them informed of any change in circumstance - so keep them in the loop. Once you are settled out there and the OR has revised I&E info - I don't think you'll hear much from them.
Hang on for a BR assist expert to join the forum for more advice.

Both of us are going BR but we live in a rural area and need both cars to get anywhere.
More worried about going abroad wan't to go during the Kid's summer holidays to sus out the work situation. We can stay there very cheaply either with friends or camping and we would only need to pay for food.
What happens if the OR wants more information when we are away?

i am no expert but from what i have read on here if both cars come to less than £2500 then that should be ok also from what i have read the or will not stop you going abroad for work it would also depend on if you are both going br or just one of you as the cars value would only apply indivdually as would any restrictions as i said i am no expert but one will be along shortly to give a more accurate answer i hope it all goes well for you
