Julian,

You mentioned in another post that for consumer debts ususally under £100k it is a telephone meeting with the OR. As my debt is approximately £108k is it likely i will have to have a face to face meeting?

Anybody else have more than £100k and still have a telephone meeting?

Hi Hammy,

It does vary from office to office with the OR, but if your debts are not connected to a business, than my guess is that you will most likely get a telephone interview. Mine only lasted 20 minutes!

Hi sueann - thank you.

I went to court on 18th April and had my OR phone interview on the 9th May.
They sent a pack out before my interview with all details of the information they wanted posting to them and a couple of forms to sign and send back.
I prepared a folder with a bit of paperwork for every item on the SOA (to prove the payments) but to be honest I didn't need them - made me feel organised though.
I had also written out a timeline for my debt.
Starting back in 2002 when the debt started to build through to when I went BR.
This was useful as she asked a lot of questions about how/why/when the debt built.

After the interview I just had to send through a copy of my tenancy agreement and some paperwork relating to my IVA.

To date I have had just one letter from them saying they have no interest in my car! Although I don't think I will be getting an IPA as I have very little disposable income.

Glad I can help

My examiner was well prepared with her questions and spent time clarifying my debt and the personal circumstances that lead to that debt.
I was on the phone for about an hour.

The only down side to a telephone interview was a very red ear!

Hi Vicki, firstly can I just say you are really helpful. Can I ask how long was it from going BR until your phone interview? Did you have to prepare much documentation for the examiner or does he/she just obtain what they need on their own. I spoke to the court this morning and if I ring later this week they will book me an appointment for 4th Aug when I will finally have my fee, just starting on the forms.

So far as I am aware the OR is trying to do most things via telephone these days, but the meeting will be exactly the same whether it is over the telephone or face to face - just more convenient for you to have it at home I suppose.

For an informal chat about any financial difficulties, or advice as to the options available, I can be contacted via my website - www.melaniegiles.com
