Posted - 15 June 2008 : 11:49:49 Hi all,
I recently posted about some gambling activity through my bank account (wife playing online bingo), however as it will be difficult to prove it was my wife and not me gambling am i likely to receive a BRU / BRO? Total losses over 2 years £750, no gambling activity in last 12 months. I am tempted to answer no as i believe the OR will probably only ask for 12 months statements but if i don't answer yes and it comes out later then the OR will probably not believe me that it was in fact my wife. Opinions or experience from anyone else who has put gambling losses on theit SOA please.
Thanks |

Don't be concerned. The amount you have used is minimal!

Posted - 16 June 2008 : 17:51:53 Hi Hammy - 24th will soon be here. I am sure that you won't be the only person to have had to use money for important purchases before going BR. If you hadn't used that money you would have had to use your BR court fee money and delayed your BR further!!? I reckon you'll be fine - the sooner its over the better!

Posted - 16 June 2008 : 16:22:57 Hi Vicki,
Still waiting on my day at the courts (24th June), then of course the worst part to come with the OR interview. Just want it over now, it is all i ever think about. Worse still as i have sold shares i have a wad of cash in the bank to give to the OR, how difficult is it not to spend any????

Posted - 16 June 2008 : 11:23:49 Hi Hammy,
A lot of people will spend that amount in 12 months on the National Lottery, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Posted - 16 June 2008 : 10:42:12 Hammy - I think £750 will seem a small amount compared to some of the gambling debts they will have to deal with. The fact that it was over a year ago will be good. Where abouts are you in the BR process now Hammy?

Posted - 16 June 2008 : 10:24:17 What about the amount (£750) and the fact that there has been no gambling activity for over 12 months, do you think the OR would still look badly on that. |

Posted - 15 June 2008 : 14:43:38 I had to explain about gambling losses to OR in my interview. He asked about amounts lost and places where I have gambled, but my situation is different as It was I who gambled with my cards not someone else. When I get a feedback from them ,will posted for sure, one thing for sure during the interview there is space to justify and explain, and I think this what the interview is about ,so do not worry. Posted - 15 June 2008 : 12:10:29 All you can do is present the facts to the OR and let him/her make his mind up whether a restrictions undertaking is appropriate. As I have said before, if your wife was using your cards to gamble, then she effectively owes you the money back, and you may well find that the OR demands repayment from her.
