Hi

Ive been posting on the IVA forum, and have spoken to Julian, I have lost my job and am finding it very difficult to find another job, I have no assets and a car on HP, and so am thinking of going bankrupt.

But what is Liverpool Court like?

Hi Sjbyron

We have all felt the very same way.

I think you will loose your car with it being under HP as the HP will become part of your BR.

Your BR will have no impact on your Income Support or Incap Benefit and whilst on state benefits you will have no Income Payment Order (IPA), if your situation changes and you get a job you will need to inform the OR office and they will look again at your I & E to see if you should pay anything.

I think your Think banking account will be OK I beleive they are BR friendly.

You may wish to get help with forms but they are very easy to do what you could do is get some free advice from the experts on here you can ring Julian or Paul at Reveia and then petition your own BR.

Not sure what happens when discharged as i'm not there yet my understanding is that is it unless you have an IPA and then this lasts for 3 years from when it commences and you will still need to let the OR know of any changes.

I don't think as an effect on Nurses but an expert can let you more about this.

Any extra income from payrises/ overtime etc should be declared but they don't always do anythng.

Once discharged that is it as said before the OR has finished with you. You are at the OR's mercy whilst undischarged.

After 6years you should then be able to rebuild your credit although once discharge you can start applying for credit again so you may be able to rebuild before your 6 years.

Hope this helps I am not an expert so some areas may be wrong.

Thanks Gary

I still dont know whether it is the best option for me, it still looks really scary, the things that are making me hesitate are:

1. My car is on HP, the HP is due to expire in November 2010 will I loose the car
2. Im applying for Incapacity Benefit and Income Support at the moment, but what happens if I get a job whilst in Bankruptcy
3. Will my thinkbanking account remain open
4. Should I get professional support to complete the forms
5. What happens once discharged
6. Will it damage my profession as a nurse
7. Will I have to pay overtime
8. Once discharged am I still scrutinised by the OR
9. How will it damage my credit record, i.e after 6 years can I get a mortgage a new HP etc
10. Am I at the mercy of the OR?

Thanks

The court really is first class. It is number 35 Vernon St its the last new building nearest Tithebarn St. The building only has a small Number 35 outside there is no markings that its a court. I parked in the new Queen square car park and walked the 2 mins to the court. You walk in the thru airport style metal dectectors then go thru the doors in fron to the left of you. This is where you have to report. I didnt even have to see the judge. The OR office is the in the Cunard building by the Pier head but my case was transfered to Blackpool office because liverpool was too busy. If you need anymore info just ask.
