Hi me again,
Some of my creditors i.e. mobile phone companies have not cancelled my sim cards and keep sending me texts saying you still have x amount of credit to use this month??
If i carry on using them will I get into trouble with my O.R?
And N-Power have sent me a new bill which still includes the original debt and a new bill, so if my bankruptcy was the 5th June am I only obliged to pay the bill after that date?
I hope this makes sense!

Wish I could lose weight. They say a camera adds 10 lbs, so by the look of the videos, I've eaten dozens :(

Yes - weightloss - I lost two stones in the last year - feel better for it but not the weightloss programme I would recommend!!!

That is what I thought when u start a phone contract you pay a month in advance, well I did!
Now I became br on 5th june and they were one of my creditors as I had missed a month due to saving for my court fee.
I have been using my FREE mins and text and they have as of yesterday barred my calls, which is fine as I now have a payg sim.
I just wanted to know if they will charge me for anything I have used since the 5th June?
Anyway I will keep you all updated as to what happens in case it will help anyone else.
As for N-Power I am going to ring them on Monday and tell them of my BR and ask for an amended bill without the previous amounts which was also one of my creditors, in the hope of not having a meter as I am renting privately and my landlord has said he would not like it, and that if I have one fitted I will on departure of my flat in the future would have to pay to have it removed, which I have been told will be very expensive and could in some circumstances not be able to be removed!!
I am still getting used to being debt free Vicki, but I have been in my new job 7 weeks and have yet to be paid, so basically I have had to rely on my partner who also started a new job at the same time as me but he has been paid to help me out, there are some pluses though.....weightloss LOL!

Just a thought: Its possible that if you have a contract phone with allocated free talk time and texts you can continue the contract. That is each month you don't exceed the minimum contract amount. In this case I would think it highly likely your contract could continue.

I kept my mobile contract without any issue. Don't assume it will automatically be cancelled!

Vodafone allowed me to keep my contract mobile - they weren't one of my creditors, but it is in their Ts & Cs that they don't allow bankrupts. I did tell them I was BR (I didn't want to be cut off out of the blue!) and was told it wasn't a problem.
Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

It will be up to your service provider whether they will allow you to continue with a contract mobile. Your other utility payments will be fine.

Good to see this thread as I've just learnt two more things.
Firstly, am I not allowed a contract mobile? I'm still under contract for about a year, what will happen there?
Second, we are with British Gas for electricity and gas. We pay quarterly and have just applied to pay monthly by DD. Will this be allowed or will we have to have a pre-pay meter installed (really dont want one of them),
Also really want to keep my mobile number as I've had it 12 years. |

Yes I think they will. It would be easier to leave your contract phone in the hands of the OR and start a fresh with a payg phone.
I imagine the texts are just computer generated.
How are you doing? Starting to feel debt free yet??

I have a new payg sim but puzzled why they still have not cut off the contract?
I will ring N-Power on Monday and try to sort it out.

Hi maxine - it takes a little time for them to react - if they haven't seen any notices in London Gazette (and I am guessing phone companies might not be as vigilant as banks etc) then they won't know until the OR contacts them.
If you went BR on 6th June they either don't know or are BR friendly!!!
However, I would consider getting a pay as you go phone and getting rid of the contract phone unless you have good control...I don't when I get talking!
If N-power is for electricity I would establish which bit of the bill is after BR and pay that so you don't end up with an electricity pre-payment meter.

I think they should have closed those accounts. if they're sending you texts it means you still have a contract with them. |
