Hi,
As mentioned before, I'm looking at going bankrupt - this is assuming I can ever get through to the Citizens Advice Bureau to help us with the forms! I've an IQ of 168 and don't understand half the words on them :D

Anyway, things have gotten a tad worse as I've been made redundant due to company insolvency, and I'm about to start writing to the creditors we owe money to. At first it was just going to say in simple terms "We've not a penny, sorry you won't be getting paid" - should I actually inform them we are in the first stages of applied bankruptcy or just leave them to find out for themselves as such?

Well, give them a call. It's quite surprising how accommodating creditors can be if you talk to them and explain your situation.

Cheers Vicki & Julian, but a DMP is way beyond us now I suspect. Owe over 27k and now with absolutely nothing coming in (yet, still furiously job hunting!) Baby due end of August too!

Great advice Vicki.

In addition, if it's going to take a little time before you go BR, it may well be worth getting a reputable company to arrange a DMP for you to minimise the hassle and avoid the creditors going legal before you are ready.

Hi - I suppose it all depends on the timing. The OR will contact eack of your creditors in the weeks following your BR, so if you are planning on doing it soon then I suppose you could leabe it to the OR.
If it's going to be a while longer it may be courteous to write to each of your creditors explaining your employment situation and offering a token payment maybe to keep them all sweet. Others have offered £1.
I completed my forms without the help of the CAB and used this forum and telephone advice from one of the BR assist experts - I used Brett England.
Hope this helps
