Posted - 10 July 2008 : 09:49:35 My IVA allowed me £200 a month for petrol as I travel quite a bit visiting sites each month. I don't get a petrol allowance as such at work as this is included in on my wages and my job role. Would this allowance be a problem in the bankruptcy?

The courts won't be interested in the finer details at this stage, so wait until you have your OR interview.

The key here is to remember that the courts are the law, not the OR. Stand your ground and you'll be fine!

Posted - 10 July 2008 : 12:13:08 hi maizie I also had approx £200 for petrol to travel to work and the OR told me they found it unreasonable and took £70 of it off and made my disposable income over £100 as a result!.She then said I would be liable for an IPA due to this.Well I sent a long letter explaining my trade and the need to travel to work and few other things that I had not included i.e. car maintainance etc and the fact 'car off road no wages' and luckily they saw sense and reversed everything. So if they do question it make sure you have an answer!.I had a hard time with my OR meeting but in the end I came out on top after a few backwards and forward letters of contesting re. various things.Im sure my OR had not been food shopping OR paid any household bills since the 1970's!!!
Good luck

As long as you can justify the expense then they should accept it. I spend £100 per month just back and forth to work, so if you are travelling around different sites then it seems a reasonable amount.
