Posted - 12 July 2008 : 10:47:39 I have just been declined a co-op cash card account (no reason given). What do I do now? The account my wages get paid into has just revoked my overdraft, which means if they go in there, I will be left with £10.50 for the month.
If anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated as I think I have just about reached breaking point. |

Posted - 14 July 2008 : 11:15:05 Hi all,
Again, it is in the bankers code that everyone is entitled to a bank account. if you are having problems, take all your ID etc for a day in the High Street and you will end up with an account!

Posted - 14 July 2008 : 11:11:56 Hello,
You should try Barclays, or the Think Banking cards, however, I have the Abbey Cash Card, which acts like a savings card really.....I can get my wages paid into it and take cash out of it, however, you cannot do direct debits/ STO's with it, you dont get a cheque book or an overdraft. It is just simple a cash account - but if you needed it, then it could be an option.....

Posted - 12 July 2008 : 16:28:11 I think you might have been declined because the bank could not find you on the electoral role. Do you think this might be the case? The co-op cash minder account can be opened as a BR so it must be that they can find no trace of you. I am in arrears everywhere and i got one. I got a cash plus pre-pay debit card which i'm finding handy. £10 to sign up and it only costs £5 to run. Could that be useful for you?

Posted - 12 July 2008 : 16:23:42 Hi
I think I can prob ask for my wages to be paid into my brother's account for this month and then try to sort out a bank account post BR.
I have read about the Think Account...but feel that having to pay for a bank account is taking the mickey(subsituted word!!), when all I am trying to do is sort myself out!!! |

Posted - 12 July 2008 : 16:16:37 you can try other places such as Barclays for a similar account. They might help. As a last resort I think I am correct in saying your wages can be paid into a savings account. I'm sure one of the experts can help you with suggestions.

Posted - 12 July 2008 : 15:50:42 Can you arrange for your salary to go to another account? Silly question I know, but one that you just may not have thought of.
