Posted - 24 July 2008 : 13:43:50 Hi All Wonder if you can clear something up. Once you've been to the Court and submitted an application for BR is that it? What happens next - do your creditors get a letter from the Court and do they leave you alone after that? |

Posted - 25 July 2008 : 10:31:32 I would assume any contact from creditors after going Br is purely a fishing exercise to see if they can land any monies from you. Also some organisations aren't that quick at communicating amongst different departments. I was told that sometimes debt collectors can try to get a payment out of you as they might be losing a commission. However I have no facts to back this up so it must stay hearsay. When I go BR I will pass anything sent to me straight to the OR.

Sometimes you don't even have to see the Judge, just the clerk.
As most creditors now have call centres it is usual to get phone calls for a while until their systems get updated.

Posted - 24 July 2008 : 13:53:48 After the application has been handed in you will go and see the judge who will make the decision, usually the same day.if your paperwork isnt in order they will ask you to correct it and may reschedule the hearing.you will have a 1-2-1 with the judge who may ask some questions and then you will go back to the admin office, where you will speak to the OR. iirc it is the OR who will contact the creditiors,i was advised that if the creditors contacted me to advise them of the BR reference and not to speak to them anymore as its in the hands of the OR.in theory they should leave you alone but it doesnt always work that way,i went BR last friday and have been contacted by phone and post by two of my creditors |
