I left the UK 4 years ago and traveled around the world eventually settling in Canada, 3 years ago. I ran into some medical problems, and ended up not working for most of those 3 years. I racked up my UK credit to 40k to survive.

Can anyone please answer whether I could still claim bankruptcy and what would I have to show the OR as I don't have any signs of income. Would bankruptcy still be possible.

Hi church.p & welcome to the forum
Yes you are able to declare bankruptcy in the UK.
You would need to return to the UK to do so unless your health prevents it in which case you can give someone power of attorney to go through the process on your behalf.
If you have no income then you can't declare one although the OR would want to understand how you live. Also you may well be looking at a BRU/BRO as it would appear from the summary details you have posted that you extended your credit with no known means of repaying it.

Assisting where I can.
