Hi, I have just had a call from the Nationwide about my overdraft. I told them I am now bankrupt and the OR is dealing with it. He said they won't accept bankruptcy and will persue the matter and somehow get the debt secured on our house. We are in negative equity and will be handing back the keys and and the shortfall will go into our BR. Can they really do anything as I thought all debts would be written off?????? Thanks

Hi Maz,

I agree that as long as this debt was in your sole name, it will be included and written off in your BR.

With regard the rental situation, I have answered this in my other post.

Thanks for that. One more thing, we will be looking to rent a property when we hand our keys back, do we need to tell the letting agent we are BR and if we do will they let us rent?? Thanks again

Hi there

no doubt you spoke to someone who hasn't gone through the training program or was asleep during the insolvency module.

Unfortunately people like that don't do the reputation of organisations like nationwide any good at all. They were probably fruntrated that they couldn't collect the debt.

don't worry.

I am sure that you have put the Nationwide details on your SOA so it will be covered in Br.

Hi Maz

As long as it was included in the SoA then as far as i am aware they can do nothing.

I would not worry, if i am wrong i dare say someone will correct me but that is how i see it.
