Hi everyone

Having just found this forum I thought I would say hello, don't know if you're meant to or if you're meant to 'wax lyrical': but if your're not then mods, please just delete the post

First I have to say I have been BR before, 1992 and it was a wholly positive experience for me, the best £135 (which it cost at that time) I ever spent.

Having read a lot of posts on here I know that many people are concerned (and when you have dependants that is wholly understandable), but as the experts say you really will get through it and further I'd have to say that having been both pretty rich and very poor (both options several times!) money is just money, it comes and goes but you only have one life - so enjoy everyday and live it to the full. They might take your car but don't let them take the love you have for your family or life, that really isn't worth it.

Myself, I don't have kids and don't worry much about possesions; possesions seem to come and go anyway so BR doesn't make a lot of difference as far as I can see.

Anyway, friday we're off to see the insolvency practitioner to sort things out (my wife will not be going BR), we've sold the house which completes at the end of the November and suspect I'll be going through early December.

In my view 'the system' is designed for you to lose, even when apparently afloat you're life ebbs away as you try to stop drowning slowly. Strangely I found out last time I went BR it is one of the very few ways you can win a little, I was just too dumb to get out and stay out. We're both looking forward to dropping out of the rat race and this time for me it'll be for good: there's more to life.

Frank

Hi Frank,

Many thanks for sharing your experience with the forum. As a discharged bankrupt myself, I can appreciate how BR completely changes your life.

It would be interesting to get some feedback from you as to how bankruptcy under the Enterprise Act compares with your previous experience.

I don't think it matters who or what you are or used to be, at the end of the day we are all human and make mistakes but I do beleive that things happen for a reason and I like to think that it is because there is a better life waiting, which I am sure there will be without debts. And who are 'THEY' these people who try to make us worry 'THEY' have probably got miserable lives. If you want to be an aging hippy, then be what you want to be. (Sorry for the preaching), feel a bit rebellious today!! Can't wait to say goodbye to that rat race. Take care. Sandie x

PS: Jo, hope you got my email on Saturday!

Thank you both for your replies and I am glad you found some small use in my ponderings Sandie - life is good and money is just money; 'they' want us to worry about it but at the end of the day, who are 'they' to us?

S'funny, I'm starting to sound like an ageing hippy; you'd never believe I used to be a high grade manager in financial services...

Your message certainly made me feel a bit more positive Frank, I am going to do it in January, and to be honest I just want to get it over with. As you say, money is just money and there are more important things in life, to me, health, family and happiness are the most important things in my life. I look at my little grandson (yes I am a granny and old enough to know better than to get into lots of debt)!! and it just puts everything in perspective. Yes, I have overspent a bit in the last few months but it has been for necessaties and not luxurious. Best of luck for when you drop out of the rat race, I personally cannot wait. Take care. Sandie x

Hi Frank

Thank you for your post and words. I do hope that you sort yourself out this time and that for you will be the last time that you have to go through it.

We are all here for you, whenever you need us just post a message and contribute when you want too.

Best of luck for Friday.
