Posted - 01 August 2008 : 22:51:16 Please can you tell me what happens after the end of the 12 month period (this September 4me). What will the Insolvency Service do to me? What will they ask me? (they haven't been in contact for about 4 months now). Can i apply for another credit card (i was in big card debt!)? Can the I.S. ask me to pay any of the debts back after the year has finished? Can they charge me with any offence after the year has gone? (they haven't indicated anything - i am just overly worried). I am 60 years of age in 2 months & now on state benefit, living in sheltered accomodation! Thanks in anticipation of your help,
Rick

Thanks for your prompt reply. I was worried about the I.S. actions, but as none have transpired you have helped relieve my fears.
Cheers,

Hi rick & welcome to the forum, on the 4th September you are automatically discharged from bankruptcy and if the OR had a problem with any aspect of your case you would know by now. Nothing will happen and nothing will be asked after that date. Neither will you be liable for any of the debts captured within your bankruptcy. If they thought you had committed an offence you would have heard well before this. I don't know the details of your BR but at this stage, with 5 weeks to go, I'd say you're home and dry. As of the date of your discharge you are free to apply for loans & credit cards but the chances of your application being successful in the current climate are virtually none I'm afraid.
