Posted - 08 August 2008 : 09:42:42 I am contemplating bankruptcy but awaiting some inheritance soon. It will be paid into an account I hold in the republic of Ireland. I am a UK resident and hold dual citizanship. Will the Irish bank be made aware of my banruptcy or will the UK become aware of my irish account?

Posted - 08 August 2008 : 13:04:11 It is up to individual banks whether they close accounts or not. I have a friend who applied for a mortgage after moving to ROI and their English Credit file was checked. Cant be more specific than that. The OR will also do extensive checks on you i would imagine that overseas bank accounts can also be checked, however again i dont know internal proceedures. Suzanne the expert used to be an examiner so she will have more of an idea on this point. |

Posted - 08 August 2008 : 12:25:28 I never said that. My Irish bank account doesnt currently show on my UK credit file. Will the bank be made aware of my bankruptcy and close my account as a UK bank would. Sorry, I dont mean to be rude please could you answer the original question?
