Posted - 08 August 2008 : 09:53:03 Please can you help me? I am in the unfortunate position of perhaps having to leave the UK for an indeterminate extended period to attend to a family crisis - I will not be working for some months, and so will not be able to service my debts at all during that time and cannot see myself coping with the charges/red letters/stress upon my return in many months' time. Is it feasible that I declare myself bankrupt (I have two personal loans, credit card debt and an overdraft in place)?

Posted - 08 August 2008 : 10:27:39 Hi v d & welcome to the forum, provide you can no longer service your debts yes, you can declare bankruptcy. However, if you have a well paid job then bankruptcy may have to wait until you've stopped working to get ready for your trip. You would also need to speak to the OR before your departure and give him good contact details for whilst you are away.
