Hi again,

I've just been reading through some previous posts about I & E and several times the advice has been to put down 'what you spend now'. We've put on our SoA that our household expenditure (2 adults and a small child) is £390 per month, which we see as being reasonable. My point is that this of course is not what we spend now, because we can't afford to! We're having to live on such a tight budget, not even really making meals for ourselves and just about managing to feed our little one properly on the money we have for housekeeping. So it just confused me that people were saying put what you spend now. Maybe I'm taking it too literally, but surely the OR will realise that we don't spend realistic amounts now as we don't have it. We certainly don't have contingency money, or extra for gifts, dentist etc etc and I'm just checking that the OR won't disallow it because we don't spend that amount now, as surely that's why we're all where we are?!

Hope that makes sense-it's come to me a few times and just want to check it out with you.

Thanks,

CG. x

Hi

Perhaps what we should say is put down what you think you need to spend rather than what you spend now. You make a good point.

I know what you mean, When we were in an IVA we proposed an amount for household (£540 Food, cleaning, toiletries for a family of four, 1 child vege and 1 child SEN) )and they trimmed it saying it wouldn't be allowed. In the IVA we were allowed £360, ridiculously hard. On Br petition i have put £540.
Dentist i put £20pm, heard somewhere about £50pm for contingencies (bearing in mind, that is only £600 per year for everything/anything emergency/broken as no credit available in future!) The OR will trim down unreasonable expenses and ask for verification for bill, utilities etc. Hope this puts your mind at rest.
