I am going bankrupt on Friday (15th) and I am concerned about the utility bills. I have put down on my expenditure the total household expenditure for utility bills, mortgage (partners mortgage but I pay towards it), petrol, food etc. Do I state joint for car maintenance etc. or is that just what I spend?

Also would the OR require copies of the utility bills or mortgage statement as they are all in my partners name and to be honest with you I don't think he has kept them, he normally pays by cash through the bank with the paying in slip then destroys the statement.

N Power told us we needed to pay £30 combined for gas and electricity. Luckily my OH said no and paid £30 each and we still ended up owing them £250 when we left them.

Tomorrow is a mystery, yesterday is history, today is the present, a gift to make the most of.

hi we were in our own property and because of N Power not charging us enough on our DD we ended up owing them £750!! our monthly DD went up to £188 per month! We then went BR and the amount we owed went into the bankruptcy but when we filled our S of A out we left that amount as we were moving to a private rented house and our OR didn't question it as we dont know what utility bills will be in the new property?

Hope this helps? Helen x

Thanks for your Help,Helen x

I think the OR would expect you to be paying in the region of £120 plus for gas/elec combined, so put £155 down and wait and see. They probably won't even question it.

Hi,

I also have a question about utility bills. We're due to move on saturday into our rented property and because we didn't know how much utilities would be, we put the same as we pay now (£155). The house is bigger than this, but much newer, so we thought it would probably even out to be about the same, but we could inform the OR if it changed. Yesterday, however, we spoke to the utilities companies who have now set up a DD for MUCH less-only £80! We remember this happening when we first moved in here-they set it low at first then it goes up rapidly the next month, and the next etc. We know £80 is much too low for a 4 bed house and don't want to be left with too little after paying an IPA. Do we have to amend this figure on our SoA or can we leave it as £155 and explain to the OR? We don't want to seem to be being dishonest, but we also don't want to be left hugely out of pocket when we're just trying to get back on track!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

CG. x

As long as the expenditure looks OK they will not question it.

You put down the full costs and then where it says about contribution from other household members you put down what your partner pays towards it.
