Posted - 12 August 2008 : 17:12:26 we have heard from our OR this morning and our interview is going to be face to face, this is worrying us, there is a gambling history which we outlined on the forms, we also dropped in loads of info on the day of BR, is this why they are conducting face to face or is it just because we are local to the office? feel like we going to trial! |

Posted - 14 August 2008 : 09:50:20 THANK YOU. I am worrying myself sick with this, i know i deserve a BRO/BRU so wont be contesting that one. |

Posted - 14 August 2008 : 09:24:49 Its only a BRO if you contest it, otherwise its a BRU.
A BRU/BRO is the most that's likely to happen to you so don't worry.

Posted - 14 August 2008 : 09:22:07 There will be a BRO, as debt large, acquired in short space of time and approx 50% down to gambling, but is a BRO the worst that can happen. (or shouldn't i ask) :( |

Posted - 14 August 2008 : 09:04:20 I have so far had two clients that were gamblers, one of which was discharged on Monday after 12 months and no BRU/BRO! The other is 8 months into his BR and as yet as heard nothing. As John as stated the OR's do differ from office to office so who knows!

Posted - 14 August 2008 : 00:58:19 Hi it's difficult to tell, certainly the norm would be for you to provide all such details for the previous 12 months. The OR would inform you if they want to look back further.

Posted - 13 August 2008 : 23:47:07 Thank you John. Further question, and not the last I'm sure, my money problems started nearly two years ago or at least the level of debt began then and I worked through it all until I finally started a Debt Management plan about 15 months ago and recently lost my job. Do you think they will want my accounts and bank account details, credit card statements etc going back to the beginning or just the last year? |

Posted - 13 August 2008 : 09:11:42 Hi onelife each case is different and OR offices do not all follow the same pattern of interview. I would be surprised if your interview were to be conducted over the phone and you will be asked to supply accounts at least covering the period from when you became unable to pay your debts. Those that you have to hand will be fine and don't worry about the lost receipts, the figures will suffice.

Posted - 12 August 2008 : 21:54:58 Hi, hope you dont mind me highjacking your post. I noticed John, that you mention the OR likes to have a face to face interview if you are a sole trader. I have been self-employed and contracting to a couple of businesses for some time. Do they need to go into accounts in detail? I have always earned less than £15k since Ive been self employed and so I only had to make basic statements for tax and have basic accounting records. I dont think there's anything wrong with my accounts (though I lost a package of receipts a while ago!) but feel a little anxious about them sifting through it all! |

Posted - 12 August 2008 : 21:37:04 It may well have something to do with the gambling then but this stopped quite some time ago in which case I'm sure BRU/BRO is the worst you can expect.

Posted - 12 August 2008 : 21:05:15 No that is not the case, personal bankruptcies. The debt was in a very short space of time with approx 50% through 1 party gambling. Gambling stopped, followed by approved IVA, which failed due to a job loss. No Gambling 3 months pre IVA, through it or after. |

Posted - 12 August 2008 : 19:49:33 Hi there can be a number of reasons why the OR chooses face to face over a telephone interview. The main one being if either or both of you are sole traders / a partnership / officer of a limited company. As that the case?
