I went bankrupt in 2001, I now ork in a company that sells insurance and they want a discharge letter, which I didnt recieve as it was a automatic discharge after 3 years. They are going to suspend me if I dont get this letter, which I have to apply for and it costs around £60, Ive been with the company almost a year and they have copies of the bankruptcy, can they insist on the discharge letter?

Hi
technically if your original job application did not ask the question regarding bankruptcy then I think a court may take a dim view of your employer's reaction and demands after almost a year.
In reality employer's even these days still call the tune and winning any legal battle under these circumstances may prove difficult and far more costly to you than £60.
