Posted - 16 August 2008 : 10:25:44 Hello to everyone! We are currently on a DMP and paying £435/month,I am hopefully going abroad to work ,OH will be out of work, with the hope that eventually will be able to find a job where we are migrating temporarily or maybe permanently.OH has got a medical condition.(that is why I have all these queries and confusions in my mind at the moment)I have informed the company about this and asked for a reduced payment as it will only be me working. We'd like to carry on paying our DMP whilst we are abroad. We have contemplated of bankruptcy before but bec we have spoke to the company, they gave us reassurance that we may reduced our payments in a more affordable way. My questions: -If for example we failed to pay DMP,will the creditors file for our bankruptcy in UK? -will non paying of debts,or even bankruptcy grounds for us being charged with a criminal offense? Please any information is greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Posted - 16 August 2008 : 10:44:27 Hi if your DMP fails then any creditor to whom you owe a minimum £750 can file for your bankruptcy but it's not guaranteed that they will.
Being in debt, in a DMP, IVA or a bankrupt, none of these constitutes a criminal offence.
