Posted - 18 August 2008 : 16:17:33 Hello,
I went bankrupt in Nov 07 and due to be discharged in Nov 08.
I was just wondering, I have just remembered that I have a Post Office Savings Account - a National Savings Scheme account. (With the grey book - which you just take into the post office).
I did not declare this on my SOA and have only just remembered about it, i think i have about 60p in there. But, as an undischarged Bankrupt can i start putting my savings into there?
Please let me know - i do not want to put it in, only for them to be able to claim it....
Thanks |

Posted - 19 August 2008 : 10:35:11 Hi I would imagine the OR does know of it's existence. The OR would not take the content of an SOA as gospel. You enter property details and he checks land registry, you enter vehicle details and he checks the DVLA, you enter your income and he checks with the inland revenue. It would therefore stand to reason that all accounts are checked too. If you happen to have an account which has not been declared and it has a few pence in it neither he, nor the bank, would have any interest in taking any action (claim by the OR / bank freezing the account) but always assume the existence of the account is known, therefore avoid making it worth his while looking into it before discharge.

Posted - 19 August 2008 : 09:51:28 Thanks John,
But would the OR know about this account? It has never appeared on any of my credit checks...
It wouldn't have been frozen would it?
Thanks |

Posted - 18 August 2008 : 19:55:59 Hi you can use the account by all means but until you are discharged I would not as any lump sum could be claimed by the OR if he were made aware of it.
