New to the site and wondered if I could get any help with going bankrupt.
I'm a 27 year old man with no assets but have found myself in around 20k worth of debt due to varying reasons. I have failed to secure an IVA and I'm now looking at bankruptcy but would like to know my situation as I fear they wil take a dim view as I'm going bankrupt without any assets.
I'm currently out of work adn have no disposbale income, so was wondering how this effects me in terms of payments to the court for the initial charge and future payments???
Great if anyone could help.
Thanks
Nick

I am in a similar situation to yourself and also going bankrupt. I went to the Citizen's Advice Bureau and was told that this was my best option as I had no assets and was on benefits. I was also advised that I could apply to have the fees paid for by British Gas or Severn Trent Water as I am customers of theirs. I was referred to a very helpful woman who helped me fill in the forms and am now waiting to see if either company will pay the fees. It might be worth going to your local CAB to see if they can help you like they have me.
All the best,
Amanda

Posted - 29 September 2008 : 19:50:44 Hi there and welcome
Whilst i cant really comment on your individual case i will try and help while i can.
You can go BR without any assets and depending on how you managed to get into so much debt as in if it was gambling related then the worst the OR would do is impose a BRU or BRO. That is like a slapped wrist for doing it in the first place.
As for finding the money for the fees do you have anyone who can help you, or can you miss a couple of payments to your creditors for a month or 2 to get the fee.
I dont know if i have helped.
