Posted - 25 October 2008 : 16:07:13 Hi, This is my first time, so please be kind.
Me and my husband are facing up to the fact that we have to declare ourselves BR. This year we have gone from 2 to 1 income (my husband is in construction and the work hasn't just dried up, it has completely evaporated, so have practically no income at the moment). We have a motgage, which is almost 3 months in arrears,we do have PPI on this but it's taking ages to actually start paying out (we recently found out we have negative equity if we take into account the first and second charge - the value has dropped £24k in the last 6 months- it just gets worse), we have a secured loan which at the moment is up to date but not sure for how long, we have about £26k of various other depts. at the moment we are making token payments (as advicesed by CCCS) to all 26 of out creditors (ranging from £250 to £4000)but this just seems to be annoying them judging by the angry and constant phone calls, some are accepting our offer but most aren't.
I need some advice on where to go now, we have read loads of information on here, but i don't know what we can do for our circumstances, we have 3 young children, no money for BR fees, and moving would be expensive as well as upsetting for the kids. We know we'll have to, but we don't want to be forced to do it by the mortgage lender or the second charge lender until we can find somewhere else to live, resettle the kids in new schools (took us long enough to get all 3 children into this school) and move jobs etc..... plus it is so hard to rent somewhere if you are BR, as BR can't hold a tenancy, you have the moving costs and deposits etc.
HELP!!!!!!! need advice as me and hubby are at our wits end (and the old man is starting to get narky and hard to live with, LOL, love hime to bits reallY) -
Sorry to prattle on for so long, it just feels a releif to find somewhere to talk about this without feeling ashamed of our financial predicament.
Right, my next website to visit, is the Samaritans LOL
Thanks

Posted - 08 November 2008 : 10:33:04 Hi everyone thought I’d let you know what the state of play is with us... Right something very funny happened yesterday we got a call from one of our creeps asking for money, funny how they never call but leave a message asking Us to call them at our cost, why don’t they call to talk and not just to leave a message asking us to call them, anyway my wife called them back at work and when she called me to tell me what they had said she was very upset. They said that we had the money now we have to pay, she told them the we know we had the money but we never thought we'd be in the place we are now when we had the loan, the man got very rude and said well we are going to take your house from you, well when i heard this i laugh out loud and thought they cant say or even do that, so i got on the phone and gave them hell, said your firm has crossed the line and now we are going to report your firm to the FOS, as we had the mans name on our phone message asking to call him……silly sod really. you should have heard them back track and then said that they would leave us alone until after Xmas then could we please continue paying the £1 per month we wanted to pay them 2 months ago which they keep sending back to us (post order), I said yeah ok ....but by that time we would have filled for BR anyway... it felt good to give some hell back as its been hard to do when your the one that has the debt, you feel like a child (no power) when they call asking for money, you ask my wife i can be the biggest kid going sometimes but yesterday felt good....i think if I’d carried on at them much more they would have written of the debt and given me money. Ha ha I need to thank everyone on here for posting info here that lets others know that they (creditors) are unable to say such things.
We cant stop tomorrow coming so lets see what it brings. |

Posted - 25 October 2008 : 21:47:03 Thanks everyone
I'd love to get a copy of the forms we'll need to file for BR, if we can have a look at them in advance then 1) they might not seem so daunting when its time to actually do them and 2) we will know the kind of questions and what supporting paperwork we'll need.
Do you know where i can get a copy, can we download them off the internet?

Posted - 25 October 2008 : 21:39:23 Hi Ray
I agree 100% it is fantastic to be able to relax and reveal your lifes problems - it seems to ease the burden and makes it easier to cope with it all. I do feel it is like one big family here on this forum. Everyone always willing to give a kind word to others and share their experiences to hopefully help others through it all.
It will all work out for you, for us all!!!!
Take Care

Out of curiosity is it the London olympic site or the Weymouth /Portland Dorset sailing site.
We live near the Dorset one.

Posted - 25 October 2008 : 19:40:16 British Gas doesn't sound too hopeful, i am putting more hope on the civil service benevolent fund which i have been paying into for the last 8 years, if not, who knows. Take that step when we have to. Nothing can stop tomorrow coming so lets see what it brings. |
