Posted - 07 December 2008 : 22:33:36 I have been made bankrupt.I have a joint bank accout with my sister i get my working tax credits and child benifit paid in the account.The insolvency have froze the account wont let us withdraw any money.The account is my sister name aswell and she has her money in the account which she cant withdraw.what authority do they have to do that?

You would need to contact the OR dealing with the case and ask them to make the monies available.
It is the banks that close accounts and so the OR providing that they have no interest in this account as that it be released back to you.
You may also need a letter from your sister to state that this is her account and that she needs access to her money.
Was it an account that was one of your old creditors or with a bank that was a creditor of yours.
