Posted - 05 December 2008 : 14:37:06 hi,
after our latest pay offer was rejected at work it now seems likely the union will be balloting for strike action. all things considered i know i should support my trade union and join my colleagues.
so if i were on strike, how would this affect my ipa payments since i won't be getting paid. would i be able to ask for them to be deferred till the strike is over? etc?
thanks

Posted - 08 December 2008 : 06:12:04 hi td,
looks like i've been bankrupt about the same as you - early sept so just under 3 years of ipa to go!! has gone quick so far though and life is generally much better - less stressful and those nasty banks have finally stopped hassling me .... they really do stoop low sometimes with their underhand tactics.
from what i've read you seem to be getting on with stuff and that's great - but are you worried about british airways and the redundancies and would this affect your flight job?
over to you! |

Posted - 06 December 2008 : 19:09:12 Are we sparring lol? How long have you got left in an IPA? Remember if your circumstances change then so can the IPA, just from reading it seems this is easier to do than if you were in an IVA. I dont have an IPA.......yet. Only been BR 3 months, but from reading these forums I have learnt that they are negotiable, which I would never have known otherwise. I would just have signed anywhere to be rid of the debt! Onwards and upwards eh? Maybe we could even be able to afford west London one day? lol But for now I shall continue my frugal existence in The Medway Towns. Oh the glamour!

Posted - 05 December 2008 : 22:20:02 Hmm thats an interesting one. I would take Jos advice and see what the OR says. You may only be advised to strike for a day losing one days pay, so may reduce for that one month. Alternatively, is there a chance they could take a dim view of this because you are intentionally going without pay? But that involves your beliefs etc. Unusual one this, would like to hear the outcome.

Posted - 05 December 2008 : 14:40:21 Hi Bang up
I would inform the OR as soon as you know whats happening then allowances can be made and the payments either reduced for a bit or stopped until your back on full pay.
Best of luck and hope the action works out for you.
LOL
