hi there,

i went BR in Nove just passed. All the debt was my own , mortgage shortfall etc. I live alone with my 3yr old son.

My boyfriend has mentioned numersous times now about us living together / renting somewhere else together. I know it will have an effect on my tax credit and council tax bill. Not botherd about that though as there will then be 2 incomes in the house (if my new job ever does start)

What i am worried aboout though is will the OR look at his income as being part of my income. They have not looked at a IPA yet as at present im still on income support. But due to start my new job in 2 week. I believe i would still not be able to afford IPA as i will only be working 20 hours. But if they look at his income , even though we lived together only after bankruptcy and non of the debt is his ???????

confused.com

can they consider him in my situation ?

Lyns

ps Paul give me a shout please x

Hi ONK,

The OR will only be interested in your partner's contribution to household living expenses. If your partner has a lot of disposable income after, this is nothing to do with your bankruptcy and it is his to spend as they like. HOwever, if your partners contributions mean you have disposable income over £99 after all household expenses, etc are paid, then you could get an IPA.

I live with my partner and his income was only taken into account in that I had to put down how much he contributes to the household.

The OR will want to know how much he contributes and this may free up mor DI, but this may be cancelled out by the lost of benefits.

Only when the last tree has died, the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

30 IPA payments made, 6 to go - the end is in sight!
