Posted - 20 January 2010 : 20:08:04 I am seriously thinking of declaring myself bankrupt, but my wife has questions which I cannot answer, can you please help? Firstly she works for DSP currently in finance and is concerned this could affect her position. Secondly she is concerned that her credit could be affected, should she wish to obtain credit in the near future. All of the debts are solely in my name and we do not have any assets as such, ie we rent and the car is in her name. Many thanks in advance

Posted - 21 January 2010 : 12:15:09 Thanks for the thought i'm at prosthetic clinic now waiting while they adjust a leg!!! Yes Richard it is from that song if you google the lyrics you will probably agree the song has plenty of truths in it. I credit Baz Luhrman with the quote but he did not actually write the song only sang it

Posted - 20 January 2010 : 23:31:40 Hi Dave,
Just trying to recall the quote from Baz Luhrmann that you use as your signature. I do not immediately recall it - I remember the song Everybodys free (to wear sunscreen) from the 1990s. Is it from that song?
Best regards and hope that your problem with the prosthetics has been sorted. Good luck to you my friend, Richard

any joint debts are generally held joint and seperate so if you have joint debts the creditors of these debts would pursue her for the debt after your BR if you have no joint debts then you have no problem

Posted - 20 January 2010 : 20:51:22 hi and welcome to the forum if you declare BR it should not affect your wife unless there were any joint debts , after your BR they would pursue her her credit rating should not be affected nor the address you live at. credit files are individual her file might show financial association with you (if you have joint accounts)but your BR will make no difference to her credit file or score
