Posted - 22 January 2010 : 15:02:48 Hi, i was made BR in March 09 and the OR has allmy paperwork i am self employed and still trading but my accountant has asked for my paperwork to April 09 and sais i will still get a tax bill i thought as i was BR i wouldnt be liable up to March 09 for any liabilty can some 1 please tell me what is the case here am i liable and if so would it be from March to April 09 ONLY?? Also what happens as 12 months is creeping up now do the OR notify me if im being discharged or notify me if there extening?? Thanks

Posted - 22 January 2010 : 15:47:56 Hi you will not be held liable for any tax due prior to the date of your bankruptcy. Your tax liability recommences on that day.
Generally speaking you would not normally receive notification of automatic discharge as it is just that, automatic. But you would certainly be notified, probably well before now, if your bankruptcy period were to be extended for any reason.
