My partner has ran up debt of close to £17000, and would like to go bankrupt. All debt is in her mothers address.

However I have recently purchased a house( motgaged), and my partner would like to move in with me. We have two children and the only thing we currently claim is child benifit. We are eligible for other beneifits but to date have chosen not to claim as we are worried how the bankrupcy may affect us as a couple. . I do work full time.

Is my property, wage at risk due to my partners desire to go bankrupt.

William,

All those that post here are trying to help people.

It need not be as dark as you are thinking - clear your mind out - talk to one of the experts.

Good luck, if I can help with the "house" side of the matter, I am happy to do so - my advice is pro bono and given in good faith -
I cannot advice face to face at the moment as I am not set up with public liability insurance - but I can sugegst ways tio help - have stopped a number from being repossessed.

Be positive, Best regards, Richard Parry (Housing)

hello William,

Welcome to the forum.

Debtrider has already said what your rights are in relation to your partners debt. I am assuming that none of her debts are joint - if they are then the creditor can pursue you for the whole debt as there is joint and several liability.

She needs to look at her options as to whether BR is the best solution. There are many on this forum who will be able to share experiences or give advice.

Good luck to you and your partner, Richard Parry

Hi W. If your partner is going bankrupt and all of the debts are in her name and the house is in your name only, then this should not effect you whatsoever. Your income would also not be effected.
