Hi All,

I currently have my JSA paid in to my Barclays current account which I appreciate will be frozen once I go BR, I am planning to go BR in about 2 weeks time. I have opened a Co-op Cash Minder account but should I temporarily change my JSA to giro payments now, and then get the JSA paid in to the Co-op account once the OR has released the account?

Also should I tell the Co-op that I plan to go BR or just contact them once the OR has released the Cashminder account?

Many thanks for any help you can give.

David

Hi Gettingoutofdebt,

Many thanks for your help.

I am due to sign on this week so I will get it changed over to the Cash Minder account then.

All the best,

David

You may as well move them to the Co-op account as the account is already set up.

Hi Gettingoutofdebt,

Many thanks for the reply.

I have received all of the Co-op Cash Minder details, I already have the card, pin and welcome pack as I opened the account about 2 weeks ago. Sorry if this was not clear in my original post.

Based on this, should I still change the JSA payments to Giro before I go BR or just move them to the Cash Minder account now?

Thanks again for your help.

There is no problem in telling the Co-op that you are going to declare BR and it is better to be upfront. I told them that I was declaring when I spoke to them to open the account and there weren't any problems with the account being opened.

The Co-op Cashminder account shouldn't be frozen but it can take up to 10 days for you to receive the account details. I would change the JSA to giro payments now, and then once you receive the Co-op account details, get them paid into the Co-op account.
