My car is worth £2500 ( bottom book )- I am surrently claiming JSA. Will the OR instruct me to sell the car to pay off creditors? I will need the car to get to work when I get a job and I have two kids that I have two youn kids that I have to collect from miles away every other weekend.

Hi

Gettingoutofdebt is right - you could argue a point if the OR says the car must go.

You can say there is no local public transport (if that is the case)

You can say there is an illness and you need the car (if that is the case)

You can say you are actively seeking work and need transport to do that and when you get a job, you will need a car/bike - The OR may want to see evidence - job applications/agencies etc

You can say you have an order to see and care for your children and to do this and not stress the children any more - the OR may listen

Good luck, Richard

£2500 is right at the very limit of the car allowance. If you don't need the car for a job at the moment then the OR may not allow the car unless you can make a case for needing it for interviews i.e. you live in a remote location with poor public transport.
