Do not worry - you are not alone as you will be aware.

Once you have established you are insolvent and no other option - take advice from this forum and go for it - all your unsecured debt will go with the BR

Come back to uis experts for questions and take heed of all of the posters as they ALL have something to share and give up time and effort for others.

It is not as bad as you may think...

Good luck, matie, Richard

Hi Pat,
I went BR last October, I have a car on lease purchase worth about £6k which I have never missed a payment on for two years. I wrote to the OR explaining it was essential for work, also wrote to finance company explaining can still make payments. I was able to keep the car - the one thing Ive learnt through this whole process is to be open and honest and contact people, its what I learnt from this forum and has meant I kept my appartment and car!
Good luck

My car has been exempted from my BR , just got a letter about it the other week. Its under 2K value and they agreed I needed it for work , school etc.

Hi Debtinfo is right.

Do you use it for work and is it essential that you have a vehicle?

Do you live in an area with little or no public transport?

Are you in poor health and need the car for say trips to a GP or hospital?

In terms of its value, it is under the £2K so that element is OK

Hope this assists, Richard

It depends on what you use it for
