Posted - 14 February 2010 : 13:20:20 Hi. I haven't posted anything since july09 but am now at the point of actual BR. I have this month for the first time defaulted on my payments (I have always paid all my debts until negative equity of losing my house pushed me financially over the edge) and have already received my first email from my bank (NatWest) asking me to contact them with ref to my account, debts etc. I have always been very open and have always been in contact with all relevant parties regarding my troubles (it's been going since Nov08), but I suddenly feel like sticking my head in the sand, I'm in a panic and don't want to speak to them...I know it sounds silly. I am currently filling in the BR forms and will send them off end of the coming week. Could somebody please tell me what the best way to handle this is. Do I tell NatWest straight out that I'm going BR? Do I ignore them for a week or how ever long it takes for the BR to go through? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Posted - 17 February 2010 : 19:12:14 Thank you all so much for your good advice and help, I had three calls today plus two from mobiles I don't know...didn't answer any of them. I'm trying my best ignore it, but I'm feeling really bad about it. Anyway, will carry on like that and get my paperwork done... Will keep posting on my progress. Valetta: I hope it'll go ok for you too, please keep me informed :-)

Posted - 16 February 2010 : 19:46:00 Hi
Do your housemates know?
If they do, surely, they would be OK with a change of number? It would make life so much easier.
All you need to do is speak to the provider and say you want to go ex directory as you are getting nuisance calls - there is no charge and it is suddenly "nuisance calls" free!!
Good luck, Richard

Posted - 15 February 2010 : 21:26:02 Hi Carole
as you previous track record with the bank has been good the letters will start with a friendly "oh have you forgotten to pay us" then progress to "you really need to contact us" month 3 or 4 the threats start "if you do not we may ..,"
so although the phone calls and letter have started you still have time to complete the forms and make certain that you have planned and are ready for BR.
some courts are running 6 weeks in arrears so as part of your planning ring the local court and ask the bankruptcy clerk the process incuding waiting time
paul and his tean at reviva are starting to put a courts list together check this link to see if your local court is listed

Posted - 14 February 2010 : 19:32:18 Hi Carole,
Your feelings are normal - it is stressful and once you have turned that corner, things will get better for you.
Please post back when you need to do so - there will always be someone to assist or just "listen" to you.
regards, Richard

Thanks sooo much for your help, in a way they were the answers I was looking for...pathetic, I know, but I just don't want to deal with it any more. I have come to terms with the bankruptcy and now I just want it done and out of the way. Thanks again, though I might still have more questions over the next few weeks ;-)

Posted - 14 February 2010 : 19:14:42 I would certainly ignore them. They can't do anything to you now and you don't need any nastiness from them.

Posted - 14 February 2010 : 18:40:14 Hi
I agree, ignore them - they will be a creditor on your SOA and that is all you need to think about - once the BO has been filed, the debt is gone!
They may call you (if they are calling you now). If it gets too much with the calls, ask your landline provider to change your number to ex directory as you are getting nuisance calls - they will do it in a few days and generally there is no charge for that - we did it with Virgin - then there was silence.... Perfect! Good luck, Richard
