Hiya,
We got a letter from or asking asking us if we wanted to pay £5220 to keep the house, obviously there is no way we can afford to do this. We also got a letter from Nationwide informing us that we have missed 2 payments and to clear the arrears as soon as. Can I ask if anyone knows ish how long it will be before they want us out? The private rentals that we have looked at all want 2 months deposit plus we have to undergo credit checks. We called our or back and he was talking about the house and informed us that someone from the council housing office had called him asking for our ins and outs of our debt, he told us it was none of her business and confirmed we were br. I know if I get the same housing officer she will be so unwilling to help, I dont want to be seen as going above her head. Any advice would be great.

It seems daft to me that the OR want £5220 to sell you back the BI in the house which you cannot raise, however when the house is repossessed the £5220 will melt away to a negative amount giving the OR nothing anyway and the Nationwide will be losing money repossessing it and following the bankruptcy not being able to recover their loss there are no benefactors in you losing your home.

I did exactly that and got a house!

We moved into private rented just before bankruptcy, our mortgaged house was being repossessed. We applied for a council house once we were in the rented house but we only got basic points and went on the waiting list. After 18 months, I had had enough of only getting 6 monthly tenancys at a time and wanted something permanent for my sanity, so I wrote to the head of housing explaining everything that had happened and that we were ill and stressed, etc,. 2 days later I received a phone call from our housing officer and she was brilliant, she did another home visit and said she would try and get us some extra points for medical reasons and she did, by the end of that week, we had a new home.

I would be seen as going above her head if it meant I was housed!!!

i would imagine that you have another month before Nationwide move up a gear for repossession and then it will take a few weeks to get a court date then if you contest it in court the judge may allow up to 56 days for you to sort out the situation
so realistically with an attendance in court, before an eviction or posession order is granted from now you should be looking at 10 weeks plus
