Hi all. Have gained valuable advice from the posts on this forum. Thank you to all.
We have had expert help from Eugis Ltd (recommended via Melanie of Jones Giles) and have only 9 hours left until our court appointment.
Hoping this hearing goes as well as most people seem to have had and will post later today, although I may have had a few sherberts so please ignore any strange spelling and grammar.
Wish us luck!

Hi again,
Not that we have any intention to, but does anyone know why we are banned from selling hearing aids whilst undischarged? Our OR kept that bit of info till last, and had a good laugh about it!

Hi

I would rather have a proper interview because like you say, it is easier to explain and easier to go through documentation when you are with a person and not on the phone.

Glad to hear it went well wendash. In some ways I think a face-to-face interview can be a lot easier than trying to explain things over the phone especially if the background is a bit complicated.

Hi all.
Update on our situation following on from the first note. We have had our face to face interrogation (just kidding) interview this morning. Arrived with plenty of time to spare and we had the first interview of the day (0900). The very nice chap introduced himself. took us to a an interview room and made us a cup of tea. Just what we needed after our early start to get there. Sat us down and went through the procedure and how long he expected each element to take. As we were a business partnership, he stated that to save our (and his time) we could have the main part of the interview with just me (but allowing for my wife to be present also in case I needed to check anything with her). He started off by a cursory check of the paperwork we had brought, bank statements, credit card statements, cheque books etc (he stated that he was looking for any large transactions that may need further clarification)and put them in a box.We went through the how the business started and when it ran into trouble and what we thought the reasons were. After that was finished, my wife had to leave the room for about 10 mins while we went through personal debts, previous management jobs etc. I then had to sign the notes that he had taken and my wife came back in. I had to go out while he carried out the same procedure for my wife, in which he asked about the car and her personal debts.
Once that was completed, that was it!!
He was in no way judgemental or condescending and was just after the facts. He seem extremely surprised (and pleased) that we had brought so much papaerwork with us including all the solicitors letters regarding the purchase of the business, land registry deeds, accounts, business plan, all business bank statements, receipt for the purchase of the car, even down to a vets bill proving we did actually have a cat. He said that the interview time would be vastly reduced because we had been so organised and brought everything with us. He said he normally has to fight hard to get certain pieces of paperwork to corroborate the facts.
Even though we had a fairly complex business situation with leases, guarantors and legal charges, we were in and out in 2 hours!
Our advice to anyone going to an OR interview would be to take everything possible with you as this makes them happy.
All we have to do now is wait. He writes his report to his manager who decides what happens next.
All in all, not daunting at all, a really friendly chap who put us at ease and a quick interview.
Just be honest with them, thats all they want.

Will post once we hear any more.

valetta30: How did you get on today? Hope it went smoothly.

gettingoutofdebt: Thanks for your message.

We have also now had our phone call from the OR, which lasted for about 10 mins and the guy was really quite nice. They are sending out a pack for us to read/fill in and we will have to go the the OR office in Bristol for the proper interview. Our case is a bit complicated due to leases etc so we were expecting this.
We will definately relax tonight and have a few jars.
Thanks to everyone on here, your experiences and advice have been fantastic.

That's good news wendash. I was afraid that you may have been affected by the Civil Service strikes that are happening today and tomorrow as some court staff are also striking.

At least it's all over now so have a couple of drinks and you will find that you have the best night's sleep that you have had in a long while.

Hi all. Just a quick update and I haven't had to have a drink either (yet).
Turned up at court nice and early (8.30) ready for our 9.00 appointment, only to be told the clerk doesn't start until 9.30!
We were all ready and fired up to go only to have to stew for an extra half an hour. Never mind. The clerk took us into a small room (read: broom cupboard) and went over the paperwork (just the Statement of Affairs and Petition) and got us to sign. She then asked us to swear on the bible that the documents presented were accurate and true. She then apologised that she would now have to take our £1020 fee. She was really nice, chatty and cheerful and put us right at ease from the start. She then explained that she would present the documents to the judge for consideration and that it was likely the judge would want to see us (as we had a business) but not to worry though as they are normal people and we would be seen in their chambers, not the court room and we would be there for less than 5 mins. We fully expected to see the judge and to our suprise, the clerk returned with the Bankruptcy Order signed and stamped! Great result and completely painless.Even the coffee wasn't bad. It took another hour or so to get the paperwork finished (just the poor clerk having to do it all, we just sat in the waiting area)and we were then free to go.We left at around midday. The court doesn't have the facility for the OR to call so will have to wait for that at home.
All in all a painless and stress free experience so we would tell others try not to worry too much (easy said I know).
